wheel size
i was planning on getting 17"s for my tib. i was talking to my friend and he told me that i should probably get 16"s or even stay with my 15"s. i'm just wondering what everyone else has been doing on there cars. i really want to get 17s but if it's going to hurt performance then i will go with the 16s. let me know what you guys have done. thanx
What aspect of performance are you concerned about losing?
I have 17x7.5's on my car, with 205/40 tires. Gripping power, both in handling and braking, has vastly improved. Ride quality has suffered slightly, because there is less tire to absorb seams and bumps in the roads, but the gain in grip more than makes up for it, IMO. I'm at stock height, and have no problems with rubbing.

i'm concerned about speed. my buddy was telling me that with the bigger tire i will loose some speed in the long run. also i will be lowering my car in spring atleast 1.5" to 2" so will there be any problem with 17s on, or will they rub up on the fenders.

As long as you stick with tires that are 215 or 205, you will not have any rubbing problems.
17 tires will slow down acceleration a tad because they are heavier than the stock 15" wheels, but you will still have the same top speed. The ammount that they will slow you down depends on how heavy your 17"s (or 16" are).
Go for the Lightest, Strongest wheel possible. 17" Volt TE-37's are ligher than the stock 15" wheels...but they cost $450 each!!!!

Konig Toxxin
And many...many others.

If your overall wheel/tire diameter is larger than stock, then you will lose accuracy on your speedometer and odometer, but I haven't heard of people losing top speed.

I have 7x16´´with 205/45/16 tire.The car looks awesome and no concern about rubbing etc etc.Furthermore i am running 265hp and no problem with the current tires and dont have to worry(so far)from a tired differential due to larger wheels.
Finally i tell you that the car magazine automotorandsport in one article said:Tiburons differentials are made in such a way to co-operate with 15´´inch wheels!!!
So I suppose 16´´is ok and you have a 45profile which is not so hursh(rough)ride wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif
