Sonota To Accent Brake Swap
Alright, before anybody tries flaming for this one, I already did a search for it and found very little information that just confused me. Im driving a 98 accent as a winter beater, in the spring it is commin off the road and my tib is going back on, by then she is probubly gonna need some work anyway, and i wont need to drive it everyday, so i can try some shinanigans with it. Now, the second setup for this situation is that i seem to have an abundance of +-95 sonotas in my area wreckers, is it possible to do a sonota to accent brake swap? Im talking disks in the front and drums in the back, im not in the mood to do a rear disk conversion. I already figure it would require replacing everthing from the spindles out, but, will they fit? what are the stock brake sizes of each vehicle? Now, before anybody says it, i know that a 2100 lb car does not need that brakes from a sedan and I am already running 15 inch tiburon aluminium rims with snow tires so the brakes will fit in there. Has anybody done this? if not, why not? While im here, is there any other heavier duty parts on the sonota that could be modified onto the accent?
replying to my own post. I was on K-spec, they have the XG dual piston calipres and they are advertised to fit all hyundai cars, does this mean that the bolt pattern on the back of all hyundai brake calipres is universal? obviosly rotor size will have to match hub size but if the fitment is the same it could leave a lot of possabilities

While I can't answer your question, no worries about the flames my man.
We are a mostly flame proof forum, except for when I lose my cool like I have been lately.
LOL
How much do they want for a Sonata setup? It might be worth it to just try it out, see if you can find a junkers with a return policy.

ok here we go!!!
if you look here you will see the accent to tib front brake swap (captive to noncaptive) now here is were it gets interesting...sonatas and tibs from 1997-2001 i think have the exact same brakes only difference is some are non captive and some are not it really isnt worth getting captive rotors(again like your x3 there) so i would look for like a 99 sonata setup that doesnt have the captive rotors

Well, there happens to be a wreckers in Toronto that has all you can carry weekends, where you pay a flat rate and you have all day and you can take everything you can carry in one trip, now. Your not going to find a tiburon in the U-pull lot, but as I said, there is a pile of 95+ sonotas, I plan on getting a whole pile of replacememnt parts for the accent. Now, they run these weekends through the summer, I believe the first one is in may and im gearing up for it already.
