Question About Shocks/struts
First of all, are shocks synonymous with struts? (n00b!!!!1 I know)
Secondly, I'm buying Intrax springs and I heard that the KYB Gr-2 are meant to be more of an OEM replacement strut. I heard the Konis were good but theyre adjustable. I NEED new struts because I think mine are going bad as they are.
Also would I be able to use like H&R struts/Eibach struts as well? I read that the Eibachs aren't as good as the KYB, but that the H&R struts are made for their race springs, which are just as low as the Intrax.

The KYB GR-IIs are prolly the best overall strut to go with. FOr the price, quality, and compatibility with almost any amount of drop, they cant be beat. I know A LOT of people that use those struts. They will give you the best ride with a stiffer, more responsive feel.
Hope i could help.

you should probably stick with known good combos or ones that are paired together(ie...eibach struts and eibach springs). if you put a superlow spring on a strut not built for it you will not only wear the strut out fast, but also have a super rough ride.
if you get the intrax springs, i would go with h&r struts, or you could give the kyb struts a try and see how they work out. id actually lean towards the kybs, people have had good results with those and they are super cheap. konis are expensive because they allow you to adjust dampening, and eibachs arent far behind(they also say use their springs which makes me think overlowering might break em). i still havent seen a place selling just the h&r struts though.

Q: I often hear the terms strut and shock used interchangeably. Are they different?
A:Shocks and struts are similar in that they both damp (slow down) the vehicles motion. The key difference of a strut vs. a shock is that a shock only controls the cars motion while a strut is a locating member of the suspension. What this means is that if you remove a shock the spindle or axle will still be completely attached to the vehicle. If you remove a strut the spindle or axle will be able to move outside of its normal motion. Shocks and struts may or may not have a spring mounted to them either. It is often assumed that any damper with a spring is a strut, this is not the case.

what i'm wondering is if you can just replace all four struts in a stock tib with eibach or KYB to stock suspension. see what i need is a spring that can handle this Maryland sh*t environment better. the stock cornering and bodyroll of our cars can be a lot better as i noticed in my dad's lowered B+G Springs elantra. you can take 90º turns going 60mph without losing any traction or bodyroll.
the elantra is lowered 2" in the front and 1.5' in the rear. It looks hot, probably would look gorgeous with 17' rims. It even drives beautifully on the highways; not only are you so close to the road but it becomes a pleasure. the cornering cababilities are practical, speed up is considerably noticeable.
--problem is, you have to SLOW down for speed bumps, careful not to hit curbs. wanna see pictures of the front of this elantra? NO? I didn't think so. It's completely demolished. The frame has been bottomed out god knows how many times very hard, the mud guards have disappeared, the paint is completely gone, the bumper is bent and scratched up in all sorts of places, the lights wobble...you name it.

Bought my set of kyb gr2 set from ebay trader jdmwerks13 for $148US.
Just got them installed today and they made a huge difference on handling and comfort on the car.
Plus I replaced my OEM shocks were 8 years old
My original springs were still good.
If you wanted yours lowered then maybe consider purchasing the Eibach.
In australia we've got low priced springs called Kings springs.
