I'm just pissed. Maybe eventually I'll get over it, but it doesn't seem so right now.

1. I can't figure out what the f*** is wrong with my motor and no one can help me. Not even the so called "mad scientists" locally and on the internet can figure it out. I've rebuilt the thing twice and still, no oil pressure. Guess what, it's gonna spin a bearing again!!!! I'll be damned if I spend another $500 to get it rebuilt only to have the same f***ing problem. Every shop tells me I should get it built by them instead, but when I ask if they'll warranty it to make sure it doesn't have the same problem, they say no. They'll just blame it on me racing it cause it easily gets 500 miles each time.


2. Dealing with people on the internet. You'd think that after being in the Hyundai scene for 9 years, I'd know a thing or two about them. I'm not gonna go too far into this or with names, but I tried to buy something from a so called "well respected" member and got dicked around for a month on that and treated like I don't know jack about cars. I was sold garbage, PROVED it, and still got treated like shit and a car noob afterwards. I don't treat people here like shit, so why should I be?


3. Tim! Need I say more???
Well, this is my rant so I'm gonna talk about it. I waited and b****ed for 7 months to get the manifold and downpipe from him. With him having a mockup motor and 7 months to make one, you'd think he'd get it right. Well, I spent 3 f***ing days out of my Christmas vacation tearing down my turbo and exhaust setup. Only to find out that nothing fits. The downpipe hits the alternator, and the manifold puts the turbo on the radiator. I couldn't get the radiator in there, much less the FAL fans with it.
Even if he does fix this, everyone I've talked to has had their manifold crack on them soon afterwards.




I don't normally get so pissed off about things, but it seems that recently I have been. And after adding it all up, it boils down to the Hyundai car scene. I got into the Tib because I wanted something different. But with no one else willing to help out with a complex disease in my motor, I'm starting to think I should get something a little more "common".

For your number one problem, I'll have to agree. Some of us have some knowledge about we're doing, but they're really aren't really bright and exceptional people in the car scene, except for maybe Denssit, Mad John, or Random. They're all alone in knowing the real hardcore stuff about these cars. You join any other community... Supra, 240SX, etc. and you'll have dozens just like them. This isn't a scene that draws a lot of knowledgable members. Most people here, this is they're first car they're tuning, or they're first car period.

Do you think your problem could be in the motor you have itself? You've seemed to have checked every other possible route, and you still don't have any pressure. I don't know if the oil routes inside the motor being messed up could cause a loss of oil pressure, as frankly thats something I don't know. Goes back to the above paragraph I guess. I know a little about cars, but not alot.

As for problems two and three, you'll run into that in almost any scene. The bad ones get routeed out faster because they're are more people involved, however. Maybe you should get manifolds, etc. done locally. The higher price is going to bite you in the ass, but is going through Tim and others really worth the pain?

Well brotha, I feel your pain. It seems it's hard to get the REAL answers when you need them.

Why don't you do me a favor and post on kspec.com 's forums, post the entire problem, and let's get the KOREAN experience to give you a hand. (BTW, I think I found a aftermarket oil pump for us.)

Yeah, we're all having the same problems. If I had some Honda Prelude or Civic or something it would be turbocharged and ready to go. All I would have to do is pick up a tuner magazine from my local Giant or Safeway and start making some phonecalls. I'm .002 seconds slower than a 2005 Accord Coupe V6. If he wins, is he really the winner? I don't think so. I think I'm the winner because it's 300 times as difficult to hook up my car than it is his car. So who is really more special eh? ME!

Unfortunately picking up a magazine is not the case with our tibs. It's so difficult to get answers... What you should do is get a new engine like I'm getting for mad cheap. Hell if you lived closer I could find you one and ship it to you.

what you can also do is have a shop check it out for you to tell you what's wrong, and then you fix it yourself. i'm sorry to hear about what happened with the SF ordeal. i remember talking to you about it. hopefully he keep his word to fix that... slowly everything will come into place man... just hang in there. it's coming in place for me. i had my mechanic weld some leak for me which was causing the cabin to poison me with harmful exhaust smoke (not good!!) and that's because the shop i went to f*cked up... cost me money and all...

i think there are lessons we learn, and i don't care if they're hard lessons, we've learned them.

If I dont get this problem solved, then my next step is to throw back in a stock motor. I can get them cheap, but the point was that I spent $2k just trying to put this built motor together. No one else has had this problem before, so I guess it's just my luck.
I wish it was as easy as an exhaust leak. sad.gif
Which BTW is the entire point of me getting the new manifold from Tim. I have like 10 exhaust leaks in my current manifold, and I was planning on replacing it with the new one. That was a year ago, January 18th to be exact. mad.gif

I felt the same way you did a couple of months of ago with my Tib. I had all these problems with my Tib and I honestly wanted to get rid of it and get something i and everyone else was familiar with. But, a lot of people from the Hyundai community and my family told me to just fix the problems and keep the car and itll be fine. I did and it was.

Then when i decided to turbo it all these problems came(fitment issues etc.) and I wanted to give up again but then i realized that it would all be worth it in the end. It wasnt easy (because my tib finds a way to make things difficult) and still isnt easy (because I still have some problems) but I know that itll all be worth it in the end and everything will turn oput okay.

It does suck that we dont have all the parts for our cars and sometimes we cant get any answers but trust me it is worth it to own our Tibs. The key words with our cars are: patience and persistence.

Think long and hard before you make a decision to jump into a more mainstream car.

How old is your oil pump?

What clearances did you get with the mains and con rods? Did you try re-torquing them to verify none came loose?

Also, where are you taking your oil readings from... the block or the head?

You said it happens about 500 miles in... are you still breaking it in at this point or are you driving it hard?

Not sure if I can help you, but these questions might get some juices stiring.

New Pump. That's after replacing two used ones that I thought were bad.

Extremely tight clearances.

Oil reading from the block.

I've been babying this POS.

This is the third time I've replaced the bearings. I've had enough of that.

Did you check the oil restricter? Not that I can see this changing 500 miles into the motor, but the absence of (or faulty) oil restricter will not allow enough resistance to build pressure.

I would check your main barrings to make sure they definitaly sat right and retorque the bolts.
