hm... how did Bush himself do anything wrong? I agree the government may not have been as prepared as they should have been given the warnings... but the storm did stray way off course as to where it was supposed to hit (Mobile & Gulf Shores, AL).

Eh, I dunno. Personally I don't think the government did that bad of a job. shrug.gif
Consider how hard it is to save a city the size of New Orleans, much less those other cities in Louisiana or Mississippi. I don't know if all of our Iraqi forces would have been enough for the 160,000 or so homes lost (multiply that by 2 people minimum per household).

lol, every president "has" to take responsibility for something. they just pick and chose. lmao.gif

anyways, all he said is that he takes responsibility for not being fully prepared. From everything I've heard they aren't doing all that bad of a job. The media just portrays it as horrible when in fact they've responded quicker to this hurricane than any of the previous ones. The devastation is just much larger this time. Not to mention they have nothing else to report about....

Well, considering 9/10 news stories, articles, and bits of coverage about Katrina incorporate some message of the gov't's failure, a national disgrace, and the shame involved, I really don't believe anything went "well" in this disaster.

Naturally, a disaster is not a good thing, and very little "good" comes out of it....but the response to it was infact "bad".

Especially considering the head of FEMA was relieved of his duties, then later resigned...that's typically not the sort of thing that happens after a job well done.

*mod edit-Do not quote the post above you*

dude we know you hate bush so drop it! I couldn't give a shit about any of this any more after i saw "Thug Life" painted on a US mail truck. I'm guess your one of the tools that wanted the air force to air drop water and food in N.O. Then you also have to realize your not going to position FEMA in the path of the hurricane. But some good is coming out of this. So far there are only 400ish people that died. Not the 1,000's they thought.

Go to hell, dude. I never once said I hated Bush.

I said he didn't do his job, and only a fool would disagree with that.

Whether you like someone or not does not mean they are 100% always going to do the job correctly.

I take it you love Bush, and approve everything he does, regardless of what it is? If that's the case, you might as well check your intelligence at the door and pick up some rocks and start carving tools.

Modern humans have brains, the ability to think, and thinking men don't sit idle and agree with what their leader does based on whether or not they like him.

Personally, I find Bush to be a good guy - I don't dislike him or find him unsuitable. However, he failed at this task - no matter how much you or anyone else likes him.

Apprently this is a topic you don't like, which begs the question: Why did you enter the thread anyway? And you have the nerve to call me a tool... rolleyes.gif

^^ I fully agree...if anyone truly believes that the government is responsible for a hurricane ravaging apart the south...ur a friggin moron...the government had no control over what happened, they can't make flood waters go away, they can't make debris disappear, and they can't respond to a problem that they aren't requested to respond to until 3 days later...the only reason George Bush is "taking responsibility" is to shut everyone up...that's what I think the biggest problem with our society is...everyone's gotta blame someone for EVERYTHING!!! It's no one's fault, maybe a few more lives could've been saved if they were prepared, but if we were prepared for 9/11 people could've been saved too...the point is, hind-sight is always 20-20, everyone needs to realize that they weren't ready, the government wasn't ready, NOBODY was ready...if anyone is to BLAME, it's the people in charge of the towns that didn't enforce their "mandatory evacuation." I could rant about this for hours, but I'm just going to stop.
