How Do You Tighten Lug Nuts?
If you are running drum brakes, I would definatly use the first method, it evens out the stress on the drum (as you bolt onto it instead of a hub like disc brakes) but with discs, it probably does not matter. I use method one out of habit.

^^ Yeah I was always taught that you do a star pattern to make sure the wheel is centered on the hub/rotor/drum. If you snug them up with #1 the wheel is sitting pretty, but if you go with #2 you may have them off center or uneven. I don't think it's as big a deal as it used to be with drum brakes but........
I do the first pattern to 50 lbs the the 1st again to 80lbs, I thought that was the proper way so the rotor is all even and not warp the rotors but i dont know it just made sense to me when my dad told me when i was very young
