I know there have been a million threads about wheel bearings, but I haven't seen any on what it actually costs to get one replaced. Today I noticed my right front wheel is making the dreaded grinding sound, and so it looks like my luck has run out. My car has 64k miles, so it's just out of warranty (I bought it used). So how much will it cost me to get the bearing replaced?

look guys..

OEM hyundai bearings suck...

Take your chance with aftermarket ones.. they are cheaper and well.. if the quality is low, well so is OEM.

Go to autozone..

They have RD bearings for like 10 bux each.

I have one on my car right now that is holding up fine. Try your luck with one of those.

If your doing labor yourself.. you should be able to finish the job under 40 bux.

If someone else is doing it.. look at spending between 100-200 if you supply the part.

From doing some research, it looks like the front bearings are pressed in and so you need special tools to replace them. NAPA has bearings for $27, so maybe I will get one there and then take it to the dealer or a mechanic to fix it.

they have to be pressed in

10-20 bux in 1 bearing..

20 bucks to have it pressed in. Unless you have a 10 ton press... dont even think about pressing it in yourself. Just remove the hub and take it to them.

I did mine under 40...

Now you can't get after market bearings for the rear can you? The hib/bearing assembly has to be replaced as one unit correct?

Correct, the rear bearing/hub assembly is one unit so I doubt an aftermarket one is available.
