I got a couple questions.....

Im going to be buying some rims soon and im trying to decide on some good tires for them. I think i want to go with toyo proxy 4's or toyo ts-1's. Can anyone tell me about these two tires and maybe give me the differences between them?

I went to town fair tire today and they showed me both but didn't tell me much about them..... the proxy 4's are $145 and the ts-1's are $165.

I know im going to be getting 17's, but what about the thickness (height) of the tire and the tire width? 205,40,17 is what i will probably end up getting but whats the difference between that and 205,50,17?

But DO NO GET 50 series tires!
You'll probably rub.

I would recomend checking out discount tires, they have thier own webstie also guees what it is? http://www.tires.com/ lol check it out, i recomend Yokahoma as a company though.

 

I have a set of proxes fz-4's on my stock wheels.

Fairly quiet while still pretty grippy too. I'd recommend Toyo's.

sure, there are better performing tires available, none really in the same price range.

hmm..... seems like im going to just end up getting 205/40/17's. Now i just have to decide on my tires. I dont need the tires to be good in the snow because i'll have my stock rims/tires for that.

 

I have perelli P zero Neros on my tib.. 205/45/16s... cost under a hundred a tire.. VERY nice set of rubber, quiet and nice and sticky.

Also, www.tirerack.com You can look at what their customer reviews are for each tire you are thinking about.. along with a handy graph giving a simple number (1 to 10) for suck things as noise, durability, grip, wet weather, and the like.

 

If you're getting wheels, 215/40/17's are good because they'll give you a little extra protection against curb rash and better traction due to the increased width.

 

ok well at least i know that i'll probably end up going with a 205/40/17. Now i just have to decide on a tire. From this thread i cant tell anything about the two tires that im thiking about getting though. Guess i'll have to do alittle more research.
