Default plz read/help..steering problem

okay here's the story.
driving down the road and it sounds like one of my wheels is like squeaking. it sort of goes in and out off and on i didn't really think anything of it.
next day the steering wheel starts shaking, thought maybe i had a flat or the road was bumpy..i was almost home so i just got there and went to sleep. next morning checked all the tires, they were fine. everything drove fine the next day. then today im driving and the steering wheel jerks hard one way and gets really shakey, then it stops. i checked the tires again everything seems normal. after this i just drove it 3 hours (thats on the interstate and city, mixed speeds) and everything is fine...not even the squeak.

so now my question..it kind of scares me that the wheel jerked like that, if it was oncoming traffic/really busy i could have got in an accident and it would have been bad, anyone have any idea of what it could be? maybe something as simple as an unbalanced tire? or cv joint? i will have a shop to work at tomorrow in school so any info NOW would be appreciated, i really NEED to find out what's wrong before this happens again.
Thanks.

im saying it could be something wrong with the cv joint, maybe that's why it goes in and out?
im really not sure what i am supposed to check..i was thinking of getting it on the lift and making sure all the boots are full of grease and none are ruptured, but im just really confused at this point. it's obviously something serious, but it is completely random almost. and does the squeaking have anything to do with it? i also read that 1st gens have a REAL problem with wheel bearings after they get old..and that could possibly cause these problems too...i really don't know much about any of this stuff soo

Possibly a seizing wheel bearing? I had one go out tonight and it sounds like hell. I know when it catches a bit it pulls on the wheel.

Dont know if not though man?

the squeaking wasn't bad, it was actually hardly noticable.
the only thing that scares me is how the wheel jerked.

Check for play in your Outer Tie Rod Ends
Only thing I can think of right now.

jack the car up.. grab the wheel (not the steering wheel) and push back and forth on it as if the car were trying to turn.. you should get no play..(Other than the steering wheel trying to move) I JUST did my tierods.. easy easy job, but I do recommend if you do it yourself, get a tie rod/ball joint remover.. the "pickelfork" style is cheap and it only took a couple of whacks with a hammer to pop it loose.

if you have play.. time to pay (sorry) It means it is time to think about replacing your tie rod ends... either you can pay somebody to do it... or you can save some cash and do it yourself.
