I'm just curious. I find it kinda' strange when there's been other contributing members for a longer period of time.

I personaly don't care about being a moderator myself, but perhaps there's others that may be wondering the same thing.....

I think she's perfect to do it, and have zero qualms. She knows her 5hit, comes here often and can oversee properly, as well as other factors that make her quite qualified for that. I was just thinking about the other old-schoolers that wouldn't mind an opportunity too.

Moderator positions can't be held by just being a long-standing member, or by knowing a lot (although that does help sometimes). Being able to take a leadership role and "keep the peace" so to speak.

I would like to have many of the members on this site as moderators, but if everybody is a moderator, we would have no regular members. The moderators don't do anything but help discuss ways to improve the site, keep threads in the proper topicsd (main role), and in the rare occurance, notify admins of problems with specific members that need to be addressed. We help the admins by keeping an eye on specific topics, because the admins can't do it all.

We don't need that many moderators, 2-3 per topic is PLENTY. Having knowledge of a topic would help you become a moderator, such as JAWS and JonGTR being moderators of the Power Adders forum: we all know that they know their stuff wink1.gif They are able to watch out for harmful posts that could show up in topics such as that. If somebody posts something about "piss in your gas tank and you'll go faster!" then they have the ability to throw the BS flag and delete the thread before somebody actually tries it and does damage. (trust me, such topics have been started before)

btw when he said warn admins of problem users he meant me, anyone who got 250 pots in one month is a problem user, like me lol, but naw, mods are cool, on the Liz thing i didnt comment but i do agree and think, well, nm, my thoughts dont matter, lol.....just another whore in the wolrd of whores (led by REdz) closely followed by me lol.

 

While being a mod might give you a power trip, it probably wouldn't be too much fun. Look at how it twisted Redz into the barrel of fun he is today (note sarcasm). But Redz goes through a lot of worthless posts everyday, he probably deletes stuff all the time and we never see it. Then people PM him all the time and annoy him on AIM probably. Ack.

And yes hamhead, we are required to keep a closer eye on our topics and make sure threads are moved and deleted when necessary. We've prevented a few big problems in our reign of power wink1.gif

but no seriusly, im gonna have to start getting serius when i hit 2000 posts so i can be possibly looked at as a candiate for mod, lol, i think my first 235 posts are gonna screw me forever though lol. only Fox can remake me on their next reality show "Make over for whorey posters into Mods"!

I was wondering the same thing. LOL

just kidding. I moderate the for sale, wanted, showroom, and exterior forums. I think I have extensive knowledge in all of those areas. Especially for sale, lol.

 

These are what I consider when I look for new mods.

1. Professionalism.

Tibbychick has been hit with a lot of stuff in her time online, she doesn't bow down to pressure and doesn't go overboard like me. LOL She's usually straight to the point.

2. Knowledge.

Tibbychick has proven her knowledge of Tibs and cars in general with what she's done to her cars.

3. Expertiese.

We needed someone with lots of experience like me, selling and buying stuff online. TC has it. She's done more MOD work on the forums since becoming a Mod than some have done since they've been here.

4. Tact.

Nuf said.

5. Boobs.

We needed someone with great tatas on our staff. Not to mention, we talked about porn not to long ago, so she's my kind o' gal.

Anyways, we lose mods sometimes for inactivity. So...

6. Longevity.

Most mods I want to have been around not just the site, but the community as a whole for some time. She's been there, and done that.
