Default Lowering question

Theres a chance that I can get my hands on some Tein S springs for $175 NIB. I know nothing about suspension, my question is will I also have to buy new struts or will the stocks do fine? And will they be fine with my stock 17s?

meh. so the rear is going to sit higher? that's awkward. honestly, if you don't plan on driving like a maniac i don't think you should have any problems. mine are still working just fine, the only problem i've had was going over a speed bump too fast and my sway bar got knocked out of place which caused a horrible knocking. our car's weren't built for suspension modification so you have to be gentle when driving. i'm switching to coils soon so that's all i've got for ya smile.gif have you poked around NT and asked them?

We have the Tein S-Tech springs on the wife's Tib. We've had them on for a long time with the stock struts and no trouble. The car is severely underdamped at this point, but it doesn't cause it to bounce when driving or anything it's just not quite as tight feeling as it would be if we had some good struts to go with them.

We also had them installed with the stock 17's for a long time.

Pics for reference (17" wheels still)

Tein springs are really good springs. With a 1.3" in the back and 1.7" in the front that would give it a nice level look. My accent has Eibach 1.5" front and rear and the back tends to sit a tad lower.

Depending on how much mileage you have on your car you may want to think about putting new struts on. Not always a great idea mix new parts with old parts.

I was talkin to a buddy of mine and he said since my struts are practically new ('08, only 2500 miles) they should be fine with the drop.

OH yea for sure that will be fine. I put my springs on when my car had 20 000km and it's fine.
