Its the wings west though..

It was one of the first spoilers available for us 1st gens..

They also had a problem with the spoiler "fluttering" due to aerodynamics. That's why Hyundai's have the center post. The "Fluttering" leads to cracking of the spoiler along the front/rear edges of the center section, right along the plastic mould lines.

If they are FRP (reinforced fiberglass/Plastic), they might not experience the cracking problm, and if they are stiff enough, might not encounter the flutter problem either.

The one I sold to Blacktibs was RFP.

It doesn't say wings west anywhere in that ad. They emailed me...

Actually, some of them came without the center post. That's how Viper966 got his. OEM Hyundai, no center post. I saw a RD1 with one today too, the guy is the first owner and it's the stock wing. I've seen, I think, 3 or 4 of them now.

albert 02-24-2006 06:21 PM

That's not my car. Mine had the center post.

Only in 97 did it come without the center post (96 and 97 in Korea). They learned at USA freeway speeds the wing vibrated and cracked. That's why they added the center post section on 98's and newer.

Wings West copied the OEM spoiler and never updated it to add the center post.

EDIT...that IS my Frickin car. They "photochopped" the center post out. If you look at the full size image, you can tell it's chopped.

I'm going to have to send them a cease and desist letter.... Third one this week!
