Default What slicks or Drag Radials

Car is getting tuned on Monday and will be track ready, SO it is time for tires, I was thinkin of running either a M/t 20x8x14 slick or the 225x50x14 but that tire is like 23 inchs tall. I am just curious if people are running that small of a slick or what you suggest for a boosted car, hoping for atleast 350whp, find out in a couple days!

yea, if we keep our stock tires hieght, then we will be banging out 3rd, i want to go a little smaller so i can be banging out 4th when i go through the traps. And i Want 14's because the Hyundai originally came with 14" steelies and there actually pretty lite, so i want to run them plus i already have those wheels. So it is one thing I dont have to buy.

well if yours came with 14s then you run into a problem

IIRC the 14" wheels are only like 5 or 5.5 inches wide

none of the tires you listed are safe to run on your wheel

hell when i was NA i would get close to the end of 3rd gear anyways if you have 350hp youll probably be deep into 4th

Why would you wanna be in 4th? Shifting slows you down. There's a reason drag cars run 3-speed TH400's and 2-speed Powerglides. A gear shift with a stick will cost you 2/10th's. You want your last shift to be about 2/3rd's of the way down the track.

This is a very valid info, I kind of forgot to add the extra power, when i was running nitrous i would be banging out 3rd through the traps, so i will be pretty well in forth, but that was on Bfg drag radials that were 225x50x14, which hooked okay. what would you guys say if I bought a set of fx wheels which are are 15x6 then i can run say like a 23x9x15, about the stock tire hieght for gearing, and just a little wider than the 225.

If you get a chance let me know when you're going to drag the car and I'll try to come up and watch. Maybe even bring one of my slow Hyundais to see what kind of times they run.

If you want you could bring it out to autox also. That would be fun. smile.gif
