I'm really getting tired of spinning my wheels at the track. I'm thinking of getting a set of bfgoodrich radial t/a street slicks. I thought maybe I'd see what everyone else is running out there and their thoughts on the tires they use.

I have the same ones you are talking about in 225/50/15's. I used them for 3 runs, but for some odd reason I had insane wheel hop issues at the track only.

I need traction bars or stiffer engine mounts (did the cheaper window weld thing).

I think after a few more runs I can get some good 60's. Best 60' is 2.17.

I'm not trying to change the topic, but I am curious as to what r.p.m you guys are taking off at. I usually launch around 3000, but have to ease out on the clutch to eliminate any wheel spin which results in crappy short times. It would be nice to launch at 5000 r.p.m and dump the clutch with traction. fing02.gif

Once you get radials or slicks you can lauch at redline more than likely without wheelspin, just be mindful of those axles.

i launch at around 4500 while letting the clutch slip

4000+ rpm clutch dumps with slicks = you being towed home

Unfortunaty its expensive and hard to change, because what you really need is a LSD. That way you can get yourself traction on and off the 1/4 mile.

If you're going to spend the money, then get slicks over DR's.

There's a thread around here on what I have and the size.

Just wanted to post an update with my new opinions on the 225/50/15 BFGoodrich radials. I would definately get full slicks and have someone you know bring them in their car for you. I have around 300 whp and I do a 5 second 2nd gear posi burnout in the pit (eliminates the wheel hop issue), and I spin THROUGH second gear when trying to get down the track. Granted I still have the stock open diff but they should be hooking a bit better I think. I am going to go with some 10" wide slicks I think, hehe. I figure if I ever reach my goal of around 450 whp, I am going to need them so if I am going to spend the money on the wheels and slicks, I might as well get what I will be needing for the future.

Only problem is the only 10" slicks are 26" tall! I'll have to take some measurements but I think when attempting to turn they will rub the hell out of the fenders so I might end up using an 8".
