Tires with large sidewalls for autocross events

I see a ton of people at autocross events still running low profile tires. Why would you want to do that and destroy your rims? Taking the corners really sharp pretty much guarantees you'll be riding on the lips of the rims. If it were me, I would want a wide meaty sidewall to protect the rims as much as possible. :shift:

large sidewall = soft sidewall= not so sharp cornering. if you enter in any type of racing/motorsports and worry about damaging or breaking something, then it's not for you. :dunno: you gotta pay to play.

There's a happy medium and normally you don't autocross with the same set of wheels/tires that you ride to the event on.

Unless you're running POS stretched tires and low inflation levels you will never, ever end up riding on the lip of the wheel. I've never seen that unless people went off course and hit some obstacle.
