Ok so one of my friends wanted to race his 550 hp duramax with (he says 720 foot pounds of torque).. Its chipped to rev more and unlock the top speed from 170 to 240.. More im not aware of also..Anyway he wanted to start from a dig..



I said no because I would get no traction.. So we started at 50 km/h... Is AUTOMATIC tranny did not down shift so I took the lead in second gear..When I shifted 3rd he came right up beside me.. And in fourth we staid beside.. Stopped at 170 and he was a nose in front..



Still can't believe what happened..

550hp? The stock duramax run around the same 1/4 you said you ran before. I think he might be overestimating his power output.





No traction? from a 4cyl tib? Calm the rpms down on your launch unless you are running total crap tires. If you are, upgrade them next for a better 1/4 mile. Good tires are better than most bolt on crap you can do.

 

First, I have seen him on the quarter mile and he does 14,3.. But he gets all this on his takeoff.. And my tires are General Exclaim UHP 215/45/17 so the traction is better than stock .. paid 700 for them

 

^^^ LOVE the General Exclaim UHP, but how in the world did you pay $700 for them??? I got the 255/45/15 (I think? maybe 215, not completely sure now) for $70 each. Got them a couple years back for $55 each. TireRack.com FTW.

Unless you were racing at a drag strip, which I doubt since you did a rolling start @ 50 KPH...this qualifies as street racing.
