I remember them talking about the possibility of a turbo 1.6l Veloster also. Should make good power since the new 1.6l already makes 140hp N/A with DI. Probably 175-200hp turbocharged with DI.
I would like an Accent sized sporty car.

In terms of sportiness, the Genesis was a step above the Tiburon. In marketing, they cannot have a similar product, in this case coupes, or otherwise they will cancel each other out in terms of sales and promotion. Mitsubishi got rid of the Turbo in the GSX in order to sell the Lancer. It made the Lancer successful.
Hyundai could not have two coupes, so they discontinued the Tiburon altogether in 2008, 2009 the Genesis Coupe came out. John Krafcik himself said the Veloster could not be made sporty because "that's what the Genesis Coupe is for." The Veloster is a "Tiburon" replacement in sense that it is almost the same car only different body. Power to weight, size, and handling characteristics are similar.
It was the best decision, however, The Tiburon got to be a household name like "Accent" and "Elantra." Eclipse, Prelude, and Celica were also household names, but those names can one day be returned when the market is right. I highly doubt they will make another car under the name "Tiburon" simply because it has a terrible public opinion, and they want to stay clear of that.
One thing is certain, the name "Tiburon" was the coolest name and had the coolest logo out of any car out there. Sad to see that be "replaced."
