Why is everything about our government so secret?
 

Especially 9/11 and Bin Laden's death?



What is the benefit of keeping everything so secret? Would it really be a bad thing to let people know the truth, or is it a way of controlling Americans by keeping them in the dark?

What sort of secrets are you talking about?



I see multitudes of reasons, but without knowing what viewpoint you're coming from, I don't want to type it all out and be heading in the wrong direction.



What sort of information do you want to know, and how would it impact your daily life and decisions you make?

Man come on everybody knows this is the most open, honest administration ever! They shut down gitmo and repealed the patriot act, and stopped using the executive department lawyers to harass political enemies!

Because people are effin' retarded. The vast majority of them at least.

There are things government doesn't tell you about, because telling you = telling our enemies.

There are things government doesn't tell you about, because telling you would MAKE you the government's enemy.

There are things government doesn't tell you about, because they don't know the right answer. (how many government divisions involved in protecting america? Local Police, county Police, State Police, Homeland Security, CIA, FBI, NSA, etc...etc). If you asked each of them what people they are watching for possible terrorist activity, each would give you different answers/different people, and would give you different reasons for the same people.

There are also 1001 other reasons why. But it all boils down the same thing.

society is soo over populated with idiots, people would freak out at most of the 'truth'.. i'm totally fine staying in the dark about most things because people would react in such an insane manor if they knew the truth..

Lets be totally realistic, what positive outcome would there be to sharing these government "secrets"?

Even armed with this information you won't vote any differently so that's moot. There is little or nothing a single individual can do that our intelligence agencies can't. It's pointless and would only result in weakened national defense. Forget that mess.



As for the specific concerns:

Bin Laden - best we know he was blown apart and was thrown off the side of a boat. Even his terrorist organization has appointed new leadership so it's a safe bet he's dead. What more could you want?



9/11 - 99.9% of the nation watched this unfold live on television. They have admitted we tortured people to get info from those arrested, that's pretty open/shut.
