well as sad as it is to admit, i dont think my tiburon will be out at all this year. since i stopped driving it at the end of february one thing went bad after another. and now with school i have no time to figure out where my problems are and no money to get it done for me. the turbo install wasnt really more than i expected, it was with the standalone. now i cant get my injectors working right (there is a thread about it in the power adders/ FI section, help!)
tonight it started to snow. i jsut looked out the window and thought to myself there goes the rest of the year. it sucks but i guess thats the way its going to be. i really hoped to get it out this year. this project really makes me consider whether or not i really want to keep going with the tiburon or not. i love it but im jsut not to sure if i want to keep working on cars. ill be doing it for a living but i just dont know if i want it for a hobby to. basically, it will go one of two ways. first, i may finish her up this winter or before winter and say goodbye in spring. otherwise i will get her running soon and at least do pistons, probably rods as well right away. i guess we'll see what it takes to get it running decent first. I have a lot to consider with what I really want out of this car. And see if its really any priority anymore. i jsut have to much damn money in it and id hate to lose so much when i know it will be a fun car. we'll see how things go over the next couple months. o ya, someone should buy my fans from me. Ha Ha, you and I both joined about the same time and are both in the same boat.... Yet another year goes by without my baby on the road. Most of it was waiting on parts so I can paint her. It sucks. I'll have to be sure all the work gets done over the winter so as soon as the snow melts I can hit the road. If you stick it out I'll take the ferry across the pond and we can meet up this spring when things get straightened out.

Swift is in the same boat as you, and shes had problem after problem stemming from a simple CEL.
She as well as others can tell you this is where you earn your stripes as a tuner. its not time to jump ship man... |
I'm in the same boat as well...I waited a year trying to get a hookup on body work and when that failed on me...my car was all crappy from sitting outside...but it has helped me get a better hookup then i was trying to get on bodywork and paint. I also have been waiting on parts to get done though and to come in. It just seems like the rd tiburon community is slowing down cause people are getting rid of their cars or they are down like mine. Hope everyone sticks through with their projects. I can't wait till mine is done. It has been so hard not to leak pics or details 6 more months and it should be good to go.

^lmao from what my car has put everyone through, Im surprised it hasnt been blown up to pieces. You know I totally appreciate everyones patience and work on this little brat.
Holy hell, I think Im one of the most devoted tib owners..most people would scrap this car if they had to go through what I went through. I mean if it wasnt one thing it was another..all the friggin time. It was so difficult and I considered giving up in the beginning..but Alex and others talked some sense into me and I kept going. Now Im so used to it..though hearing when things arent going right still bothers me..I never want to give up. Like I always told myself..my tib will be the death of me. Shes a brat but I love her. I think of other cars and they cant compare. This car has way too much sentimental value to me too..it brought me so many good things and I mean hell my mom basically got it for me too..and when I thought of giving up I told myself itd be like me giving up on my mom while she was still alive..and I couldnt do that. Man, once the first big snow comes I wont be driving my tib all winter either..and that sucks. The first big snow is going to probably be here in a couple weeks! Im telling you man, patience is key. If you love your tib youll stick with it..dont give up if you dont have too. |
after over 6 long years, mine still is running ok. few issues here and there that really need to be fixed, but it still gets me to work and back.
o, and good news, i sold one of my probe turbo's. so i could have the tib in the garage this winter. (may not seem like a big deal, but both my probes are my babies, this is a pretty big step for me. but im planning on alot more for the tib in the next year, and need to keep it safe) |
I felt the same way when I couldn't find an option for the SAFC. Well, I couldn't afford the right option (Haltech).
Even when I was working on the PRS, I was having problems just like you are. But now it's running great and I'm feeling like it was all worth it, even though I kept saying it never would be when the problems were around. I can help you a little with the PRS, but the injectors seem like a problem that you just need to be there in person to fix. All I can say is, check for power in the red (i think) wires when the ignition is on, and see if the stock ECU is grounding them out through the other color wires to fire them. There is another way though. You can cut the harnesses completly and run your own wires. Run an ignition power to all the injectors, then run their ground wires to the two PRS inputs. Using the stock wiring is just a cleaner/easier way of doing it but not necessary. |
jon i was thinking about that jsut last night. i think i may try it. im nto going to run the wires all nice, jsut hook it up and see if anyhting works.
