Take a step way back in time
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=696...ag=mg;60minutes
11 minutes of film from a camera strapped to a cable car going down Market St. It's a very cool video of what the street scape looked like before it was all destroyed a few days later in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. This was on 60 Minutes the other night, so not sure how many of you caught it. Definitely a cool video. smile.gif |
Amazing video, great find!
I was curious how the car was going to get turned around - just before the end, you can see it's on a turntable! Very cool. What was the big building at the end? It's a surprise they didn't have more accidents - granted everything ran much slower there, but still, that was a bunch of vehicle moving around! Also, very cool to see wagons, horses, and a bike still being used. The modes of transportation that people used were really amazing. Today all we really have is a car (for in-town driving, that is). |
