Doesnt seem right that they can punish a student if they see something in their blog and they dont like it. Schools should start spending more time in worrying about whats happening in the classroom than something thats posted on a website somewhere.

Oh, they definitely won't get away with it. They'd better be expecting a call from the ACLU, followed by a major lawsuit. That violates every student in that districts constitutional right to freedom of speech.

Exactally, one can not be punished for something they say on the internet like that. What, does the school district think they are above the law? Even cops can not act on things said on the internet. If an underage kid says that he was drinking on a blog, he can not be arrested... this is stupid.

A lot of college kids are getting in trouble here at 'drug free' Riddle because local cops would find pictures of them on facebook or myspace with a beer in hand, or marijuana. It's ridiculous, but seriosuly when you put something like that up on the internet don't expect your friends are the ONLY ones allowed to see it. wink1.gif

Pcitures are one thing....but writing about it in a blog or journal is a whole other issue. They shouldnt be allowed to punish students if they just write about something they did.

I am pretty sure my old highschool probably already does that. The Local City Highschool was a dump, so I went to a private christian high school... bunch of Nazis.. and I am being nice. They had a clause that ANYTHING you did outside of school.. even if you were not in uniform and did not expose your school to it.. was grounds for discipline.
