the market is flooded man... rappers trying to crowd the same boat.
all of it sounds the same nowadays. so do the videos. most of the rappers wear the same style and have the exact same music videos. nothing new at all. rap is also related to violence, sex, and drugs. then you get an occasional rapper singing about fixing the earth and violence being wrong but nobody wants to even listen to them they'd prefer to listen to harcore.
reason i don't like rap is the same as why i don't like pop stars. well except for christina because she's really got a nice voice no matter how much you hate.

if everybody kills their competition, and the remaining go to jail for it, you can only wonder how long the genre can continue to produce new music. There ain't gon' be no fool lefff ta flow!

I hate rap music but this is the most catchy song I've ever heard; the video is awesome too.

New music?!?! Most of these untalented people steal riffs and melodies from real artists, like James Brown, repackage it, and make millions. The difference is that James Brown and the artists in his era started a musical genre revolution, the rappers today are simply out to make a buck. They have no creative talent whatso ever IMO.
i used to like rap like back in late 90s til about 2000. there wasn't 4000 rappers that sounded exactly the same, everyone had their own unique sound, rhythm, vocals, etc.
now a days, its all the same crap.. theres a new rapper everytime i turn on the radio, and talent has went out the window.. songs are composed of just a digitally rendered chorus, and thats it.. and all the new songs make no sense and have no point..

I can admit that some authenticity and talent has went out the window for rap these days, but I still do enjoy it.
Not surprised that records sales have went down..but havent they in almost every genre?
