As of Friday, I have decided to take the semester off from college. I'm a junior in Accounting at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. My girlfriend of 3 1/2 years was diagnosed Friday with Crohn's Disease. They are requiring that she take the next semester off from school so that treatment and surgery can be performed to prevent it from escalating to cancer.
Crohn's disease is a life-long disease, treatable but not curable. She has extreme pains in her abdomen, sometimes it's almost to the point of being unable to walk. The disease is in her colon, and has started to go into her small intestine. Surgery will require part of the small intestine to be removed. In the past, people have been require to wear a bag on their side for the rest of their life, but now they are able to re-attach the small intestine to the colon, so hopefully that won't happen.
While performing many of their tests and x-rays, they also found that she has 2 cysts on one of her ovaries, and 1 cyst on the other. Those will also have to be dealt with after the more serious disease.
For any of you who are Christians (or even if you're not) please pray for her. She's in a lot of pain and doesn't really deserve what's been happening to her. I would really appreciate it. She's only 21.

Brandon, you and your girlfreind are in my families prayers. There is a boy in my church who has Crohn's disease, so I can understand what she is/will be going through. It is really important for her to know that she has your love and devotion, so be there for her always. I will also forward this to my church group.

I too will remember the both of you in my prayers. The power of prayer is truly amazing. Remember living a life for the Lord isn't always easy. It's full of trials of many kinds. I pray that both you and Lindsay remain strong throughout this whole ordeal.
