Meh, if I spend $2 on a ticket that's a mental vacation. For the next 24 hours I own a deserted island, a vast car collection and any number of other totally illogical and irrelevant things, completely without worth or meaning. It's the cheapest stress reliever that exists.
At least that's my $2

I'm even good at math, and I'm buying a ticket. *some*body is going to win this time, probably. I'd at least like to be in the pool on this. I've never bought in when it was
If you want to know how much you would get in either one lump sum or by doing the 30 year payout....check it out here:

With me being in NY, my lump sum would be over $533 million
If I were to do the annuity, in the end it would be $860 million with an average per year paycheck of around $28 million
If it were me, I would do the annuity. Less taxes to Uncle Same, and there's no reason why I would need that much money in a lump sum all at once. The 1st couple of years alone would be enough for me to take care of friends and family, buy a couple of nice houses and some toys, and take a few vacations with money left over to last me for a very long time. The rest would just a bonus that would go into smart investments so I could just live off the interest if needed.
