oo....i'll kill playstation
okay, JUST bought a brand new PS2...it's a new skinny version that's like half the width of the old ps2's. ANYWHO, i hooked it up last night and played tony hawk 4. it worked fine. then i swicthed it out for burnout. wouldn't load. i spent all night trying to figure out why. this morning, i turned it on and it worked. tried to play later today, it froze during burnout and stopped working after that. **BAD WORDS**
anywho, this is what it does:
i turn it on, it tries to load the game. after a black screen for a little bit, it goes back to the browser screen, where it shows that i have a memory card and a disc in. i try to load the disc that way. goes to the saem screen. i checked the wires, i checked the disc, i tried to clean the disks, nothin.
PLEASE HELP!!! i bought the dammmed thing so i could play it, not look at it.

No offence, but the PS2 is really poorly built. Lots of problems like that. I read about them all the time. Worst problem with the Xbox is some of the older DVD drives go bad quick.
although i don't have a gaming system, it seems like you could have a bad game. not a bad PS2.
are you having problems w/ any other games or is it just w/ burnout??

well, things seem to work until i put burnout in, then none of them work.
could a bad game mess everything up?...plus it's weird that after i let it sit for like 12 hours it all worked again. i turned it off for a bit this afternoon and none of the games are loading still
okay: i just took the memory card out and it works again....but i did that last night and it did nothing. could my memory card be bad or somethin?
DAMMMMMIT!!! it worked fine when i took out the memory card, so i put the card back in and deleted the info off of it. now, it doesn't work again. it keeps saying "there is no data" on the disc (i'm trying it with tony hawk 4 now)
i'll kill it....i will

There is more then likely an intermittent problem with lazer assembly or motor. Even though it seems strange, try to unplug the PS2 for about 5 min, then plug it back in and try it again.
If the problem is still there, I would take it back and get a new one.

the new "older" (read full height) style PS2's are much improved from what they were a few months ago.
I first saw the new version while at EB picking up Battlefront.....wasn't impressed at all. There was no need to shrink it down, the HDD will now be external....if they ever release it for your version, the ONLY upside to the new version is that the network adapter is now integrated.....and its not that big of a deal for it to be sticking off the back anyways......
I dont know WTF sony was thinking....I'd take it back to where ever you bough it ASAP and just get one of the regular PS2's....
If especially if you are having problems w/ more than one game.....
Remember, places like Bestbuy/Circuit City aren't really known for thier Delicate handling of electronics. There were quite a few cases of damage to PS2's when they first came out b/c of handling issues. I'd go to an office supply store or your local game store and buy it there.....
