I had a project accent that the previous owner sold to me for 200 dollars due to it "eating" automatic transmissions. I am curious why it was doing that.. so I looked around. I see wires for neon's running into the area where the ecm is. hmmm so I follow the wires. Well, they didn't tap anything to crazy to get power, but someone thought the brass looking thing must be soft and a good place to put a screw in to ground the system. One screw was touching metal on the board and another went through the board in the TCM. yeah....

Read the thread, that was apparently at least the THIRD reported case of somebody mounting their license plate up high, and then their bike wouldn't start.

Seen this happen before. On one hand that seems like a poor location, on the other hand why would you do that? Good rule: Don't drill through a black box that your not sure what it does.
