Sorry to say but I gotta get out of the tiburon scene for a little while. My wife is pregnant with our second smile.gif so my little coupe cannot suffice. We have been making due with the jeep and me only driving my car to school and work, but its time to get something bigger.

So heres my delima My car has approx. 160,000 miles on it. I know no one will want to buy a car with that much mileage, or they will not want to buy it for that much anyways. I can get a low mileage engine for around 200-300 bucks. What do you think I could get out of my car (including someone not from this forums) without replacing the engine and replacing the engine.

5spd, 1.8cam, headers, intake, exhaust, brakes, speakers, kenwood headunit, pl, pw, clothe interior(free of stains and burns), 16in konig rims on hankook rubber, blittz body kit.

at least 3K if the paint is clean and the interior looks good from hte pics, you should have no problem for 3-4K on ebay

I'd offer you around $3,700 if it was April of 2008, but I dont think you want to wait that long to sell it. I'm wanting a stock RD1 anyways for a daily driver. Great looking car though!

So around 3 and a half to 4. What if I would swap the motor into something with lower mileage.

SOCKS_old 10-12-2007 10:08 AM

yeah, id say 3500$.. with a motor and trans swap, probably about 5000$. you would definately need to do trans also, cuz 160k on a trans is ALOT. even for a manual.

car looks REALLY nice, if i didnt have to come up with 3000$ to move to NM i would buy that thing in a second.. i even love the interior paint job.

the time and money to swap a motor/trans isn't worth the amount you'd get out of it in my opinion. Plus, you always have the potential problems that could arise from the swap.

If you can do the swap yourself fairly easily in a weekend with only $300 cost, go for it.

why not keep it? It's a reliable second car that's paid off.

I think the swap would be pointless and not make it sell for any more, when I see a car with a swap it makes me wonder what the previous owner did to it to make it require a swap.
