White House Asks Congress for $3.7 Billion for Border Crisis
The Obama administration is formally asking for $3.7 billion in emergency funds from Congress to address the flood of unaccompanied minor children coming illegally into the United States -- more than the White House previously signaled it would request.
The funds include $1.1 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, $433 million to Customs and Border Protection, $64 million for the Department of Justice, $300 million to the State Department and $1.8 billion to the Department of Health and Human Services.
The administration previously indicated that it would request about $2 billion but would wait to release the details until Congress returned from a week-long break.
The White House says the money is necessary to cover costs like increased man-hours for border patrol agents and aerial surveillance teams, legal services for children in immigration proceedings, the hiring of 40 additional teams of immigration judges, and care for unaccompanied children while they are in the country. Almost $300 million would go towards efforts to “repatriate and reintegrate migrants to Central America” and address the underlying economic and security causes of the spike in child migrants.
It’s not clear how the GOP-led House will approach the funding request, which must pass both Houses of Congress.
A spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner said: "The Appropriations Committee and other Members, including the working group on the border crisis led by Rep. Kay Granger, will review the White House proposal. The Speaker still supports deploying the National Guard to provide humanitarian support in the affected areas - which this proposal does not address."

I'm down here and hate illegals with a passion. Lost my fully built Z to one. Truck stolen too. I vote for shooting adults as they cross for trespassing and claiming "invasion" by another country. They'll soon get the hint and stop coming.
I hate Obama even more and think its bullshit we're paying for legal council to non citizens. Once again, they get more luxuries for free that us workers don't.

The $2B was barely going to be enough to cover the lawyers and taking care of the childrens' physical needs. Republicans let it be known that they wouldn't support it because it wasn't enough. It only makes sense to include enough money to start the deportations he claims to want.
And yes, he is catching heat down here for not going to the border. Not that he would do anything differently if he saw a warehouse full of babies, but the polls don't say he has to go yet I guess so he won't.

Well, don't forget you have to run ammunition conduits and belts from a magazine a few hundred miles away. That's not going to be cheap, either. And they probably aren't very energy efficient, so you'd need another nuclear or coal power station to run them. The environmentalists would never allow it!

A few hundred miles? The ammo's in the base of the gun. Border patrol would need a new job... they're now in charge of cleaning, arming and maintaining the guns.

No, you'd have to have parts of the project in at least two States, to ensure broad support in Congress. Bigass long ammunition supply conduits with miles and miles of cartridges in them. Feed the ammo in to the system in Arizona or New Mexico, run the conduit clear to Brownsville. Then hire your brother in law as the only contractor to fit the specifications for a no-bid contract to make sure it all "works". And then maybe headquarter a new agency to oversee it all in yet another State.
Don't think "the way it should work" man, think "the way it brings the bacon back to my District!"
