My father is a master welder and he perfers the arch welder... but he is OLD timer... The first time I saw a mig welder in action, it looked so much easier to use and could get into the tough to reach places... so I think that the mig welder is better... I have used both on some little projects that I was tinkering with in Pops garage, and by no means am I a professional welder, but come on, a welder that runs its own line.. and you dont have to keep changing rods... I think the mig takes the cake on this one...

arc not Arch
bead not beeds

Each has it's strengths/weaknesses in different applications. Comparing the two is the old ford vs chevy debate... each person has their preference, and each person thinks the other person is wrong.

Minds are sometimes like concrete, all mixed up and permenantly set....

For me I like arc better but that was the 1st kind of welding i did .
If I tried mig more than I have I might get to like it better.
