Default lets play a game called "is it totalled"

start with the vehicle
2000 hyundai elantra wagon (the failwgn)
122k miles on body (engine is a beta 2 with roughly 80k or so)
automatic
cruise control
alloy wheels
nada approx value (lets face it its my beater) $1800

18 year old chick on cell phone in a brand new chevy aveo her parents probably got her hit me goin about 25 AS I WAS ROLLING

yes kids she rear ended a moving vehicle didnt even hit the brakes

entire story as followed

guy zipped across 3 lanes of traffic cutting me off causing me to slow down rapidly (never locked up brakes) he turned and i started to accellerate and lets face it, a automatic wagon doesn't move very fast i was goin about 15mph in a 35mph zone when she admittedly hit me cuz she was sending a text message

damage is as followed (ill get pics later its too dark out now)
paint chipped off the bumper
dent in my hatch roughly the size of my foot and approx 1.5 inches deep
latch is bent so the hatch opens only if you have someone hold the handle up while someone from the inside the car pushes it out with some persuasion

now as minor of a accident as this sounds, it actually sent my mother to the emergency room, she had back surgery YESTERDAY and the force caused her to tear a stitch

also if the women of the forum can answer this question why is it she can be completely cool and be very nice and respectful until the cops showed up and she starts crying hysterically when there was no damage to her vehicle? did she honestly just try to 1up my mom who had to be taken away in a stretcher? or was she just trying to get out of getting a ticket?

1) Yes, she was trying to get out of the ticket.

2) Yes, it's probably totaled.

3) If it is, buy it back, have it fixed on the cheap and keep driving it. By cheap, I mean fix the hatch enough that it functions properly and don't bother with paint.
