We all have talked about where we work, but how did you actually get the job you have now? Friend hook you up? Referral? Randomly fill out an application? Your college got you in? Job posting on the net? Company found you on Linked in? Let hear the stories!

The want ad didn't sound like the actual job but it did sound like something I could do, so I responded almost on a whim and got the job. Same for the last job, actually.

Got a call out of the blue from the Army; they had gotten my resume from the college I graduated from and a former classmate recommended me (she already worked there). In the phone interview (I was 3 states away), my future boss wanted to hire me on the spot. So being the bureaucratic organization it is, my first day was 4 months later.
Been there for about a year and a half now and loving it!

I was with a tech company before where I am now. I was looking for a chance and sent out my resume to a few places, that didnt even really have any job postings. This place viewed my resume and wanted me to come in because they had no Marketing department and needed one. Came in, interviewed with the VP, and then the President, and a day later, had a job offer in my inbox. Been here since December and loving it. However, still going forward with my own company, but doing it slowly.
I started my career at this company with an internship. Five years ago I got an e-mail from a professor about an internship. I got the e-mail at night, created a resume in about an hour, e-mailed it in, and got a phone call the next day scheduling an interview 2 days later. After the phone interview (wed), I got a call the next day (Thurs) scheduling a face-to-face the following day(Fri). Job offer came on Monday.
I graduated 3 months later, and at the 4-5 month mark they hired me on full time. I've been here 5 years next month, and looking to move into a new career path. I'll use my current company to try to get into the career and get established before moving out somewhere else. It's a hard field to enter, so I'll utilize my connections within our companies to try and earn a job here. Plus, longevity and seniority come with added benefits if I stay within our company (better retirement matching, more vacation, etc.)

Side note on a job I didn't take: got out of a specialized field in the Navy and the manufacturer of the equipment wanted to give me GOOD money doing basically the same job, but as a civilian. But it meant living on the San Andreas Fault so
