Honolulu has a new plan to stop drifters...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Transportation officials believe they have found a way to stop the screeching tires and near-crashes associated with recreational "drifting" on the steep, winding roads of Tantalus.

Plans call for the installation of a sandpaperlike nonskid surface in the next year on the sections of road most used for drifting, the Department of Transportation Services said.</div>

Ever heard anything like this anywhere else in the US? Could it work? Looks kind of like the "tar and chip" or "chip seal" roads you see out in the country.

i didn't know there were any over there!

i know that in Japan, they put steel plate covers on their tires somehow.

Just looks like a tougher chip seal like substance.

They used chip seal to cut down on drag racing in one local spot. That stuff is hell on tires.
