so this weekend i was at this "super" pet store and they had all their bird stuff on sale so i wound up buying a parakeet. lol. it was a pretty random buy i must admit. but...i've wanted one for a really long time and since everything was on sale and i was there, i decided to go for it. i've yet to tell my mom though. so far he has kept quiet so you would never know he's here. he's so cute. he's the classic green and yellow color, but moslty green and i named him kiwi. cool.gif
i'm a little sad though because he seems afraid of me but when i'm across the room talking to him he looks right at me listens when i talk to him. i've only had him for 2 days.

I have two parrots... big birds not lil parakeets. Had them both for... 12 years now? They gotta get used to seeing you around, but once they do they'll love ya to death.

Make sure to give him lots of fresh veggies and fruits in addition to seeds. They love that. Mine eat anything, they even eat Italian\Chinese food with me. tongue.gif

awwww it took millet from me! yay! i'm so excited. then i petted him a little bit on his belly but then he got freaked out and jumped away. lol. but i'm getting closer to him. w00t!
i named him kiwi...and yeah i'll post some pics up...
will the flash freak him out?

it's a possibility..... just turn on a couple of lights and turn off the flash and you'll be fine if you're worried about the flash scaring him

I have had a bunch of keets over the years. Great little birds once they get over their fear of you. While not as friendly or as animated as the bigger birds, they have just as much personality and in many ways, more so. Being a smaller bird, they can get into more trouble, but still make you smile with their antics.

I keep thinking I want a Conure...

i use to have finches till they multiplied too many times.

but your mom will smell it there stinky lil things aswell. might aswell tell her now.

sorry to go a little off topic.. but Silent Secret reminded me.. my mom once had 2 finches.. she now has a dozen and has to go through their cages constantly to remove any and all eggs.

Seriously though.. 'Keets are great little birds. but you had best tell your mom soon before it has a fit and starts squaking like no tomorrow.
