Four men climbed the 1,776-foot Freedom Tower in New York City at 3 a.m. on Sept. 30, 2013. Three of them parachuted down while one kept a lookout — and they've got footage to prove it.

The video, released on YouTube Monday, shows one of the men performing the terrifying jump, which ends up with a safe landing in the middle of the street.

Unfortunately for the parachutists, the stunt was not only extremely dangerous, but also illegal. A security guard at a nearby building saw them and called the police, which was ultimately able to identify one of the men in January, discovering videotapes on which the stunt was filmed at his home.

After long negotiations with the prosecutors, the four men turned themselves in to the police on Monday afternoon, The New York Times reports, claiming they tried to expose the low security at the NYC's tallest building.

According to 33-year old Andrew Rossig, one of the parachutists, the security was almost non-existent — they just walked into the building.

"It’s supposed to be the most secure building in the world. God forbid it was somebody else getting in there with a real intention to harm New Yorkers,” he said.

The men are expected to be charged with trespassing and burglary. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey condemned the jump, calling it "lawless and selfish act that clearly endangered the public."

This is not the first incident that pointed to the low security at the 1 World Trade Center. Just last week, 16-year old Justin Casquejo climbed up the building and roamed on top of it for two hours until he was caught by a construction worker.

But seriously, whats up with security over there?

Seriously with an orange vest, camera on a tripod, and a clipboard you can get into any building. That's how I get photos of city landmarks from the top of the surrounding buildings. ;)
