I came across this article regarding cell phones and driving and how the government singles out cellular devices as a scapegoat for vehicle accidents. Unfortunately, the government is based on collectivism and how the public feels about certain things, and such polls that suggest the ban of cell phones that pertain to the "masses" of people, which serves no entity..

IMO, statistics do not solely blame cell phones, and neither should the f-ing government. In addition, they need to stay out of our private lives.

^^ wtf? Anyhow...

No one can give the same attention to driving when they are talking on a cell phone as opposed to not, it's impossible. I'm all for small and minimalist government - but your right to a "private life" ends when it starts negatively affecting mine (bad driving on a shared public road). At least half the drivers I see not paying attention are on a friggin cell phone.

I never realised how easy it could be to be a negligant driver on a cell phone until I became one.

Years ago, when I used to drive a truck for a living, I was on the phone as I drove, trying to get directions to the place I was going. It was not until AFTER I drove through a redlight (thankfully with no cars coming or going from either direction) that I realised that maybe it was a good thing not to talk and drive at the same time.

Over here its illegal to talk on the phone and drive. You can get a fine of up to 1000 pounds or have your license taken away for 6 months (I think it is). Its pretty serious over here.

Its also illegal to eat or drink anything and drive either wink1.gif Also, to read, apply make-up, and just about anything else that doesn't have to do with driving. tongue.gif

Illegal here too to speak on the cellphone while driving. And it's all good.
