Oh my... you DON'T want to get me started on detailing laugh.gif

That's only part of my stuff.

I use different products, for different needs, so I can get the paint (mine or someone's else) almost 100% swirl/marring free, and remove all the small defects (like small scratches). It's amazing what can be done using a good orbital polisher and good products.

I got some cars scheduled for detailing in the next few weeks; I'll take plenty of before/during/after pics, and list the products and steps that I used. Usually, people are amazed to see how a paint can be brought back from "shot" to "perfect".

I use Meguire's products as well. I sometimes go to the car wash and go over it once and let the time run out. I'll then go over the car with a sponge, and start the car wash over again and used spot free rinse. When done, I'll get on the highway and air dry it.

NEVER use a sponge on a car's paint, unless you want swirls and micro scratches. You want to use a drying microfiber or a synthetic chamois (microfiber is preferable).

I would also tell to not use the car wash... but I understand that it's the most practical way of washing for a car for a lot of people.

I use the Mr. Clean auto dry thing for the outside. Inside I use armor all for the dash and their leather cleaner/conditioner. I do the rugs with woolite lol. Glass plus on the inside of the glass and on the mirrors. It's my daily driver, and I need a new paint job, so I'm not going all out on waxing yet. Once I get my new paint job though, I'll be taking better care of it.

yes yes yes. forget steps 1 and 2 they're a waste of time and money. i'd rather by two bottles of step 3 (canuba wax) rather than 2 bottles of step 2 and 3 because paint is going to get ruined and weathered anyways. you're not going to own your rd tib for more than 10 years and if you do then during that time you might as well invest in brand new paint job.

my point is meguiars wax makes your car shine liek glass for 3 days before it's weathered and "dirtied" by road conditions. after that your car will look like it's been car washed everyday for the next two months. after two months you will have to use the wax again. it saves you money and having to wash your car everyday.

i only wash my car when i want to show off my car. good thing about tiburons, they still look hot when they're dirty.

I use this generic car wash liquid, a sponge, and a hose. It works fine.

I use Meguiars.... I'll go once with Step 1, one with Step 2, and twice with Step 3... stays glass shiny for months. It takes me two days to finish the car though (like 10 hours) for just the outside. I also use this stuff my dad has called ProBuff in between Meguiars waxes.... works wonders on little scratches that the Step 1 from Meguiar's cant handle, and shines almost as good as the Step 3.

Right now the most I do is the touchless car wash down the street. Though, after getting into an argument with the owner last week, that might be changing.

He had the system shut down for repairs, but did not put up a sign, nor did he try and stop me from sticking my 7 bucks in the machine (he was twenty feet away yacking on his cell) I refuse to go back there.

After this summer when I get her kitted out and painted, I will go back to a more clean approach. With two huge door dings, scuffed paint on the front bumper. Gouged plastic on the rear bumper and typical cheap paint from Hyundai (RD2s got better paint) with all it;s orange peal, cracks, and discoloured areas.. it is just not worth having a very shiney car.
