I like the trunk. Curious as to how much it weighs since they would have to really beef up parts of the car so handling doesnt go to crap.

Also, I think it would have been better as a hardtop convertible that folds down into the trunk (like Mercedes does) versus the hard top.

I remember an article online about how they cancelled this project at the last minute because they had been eyeing poor Celica convertible sales simply due to this reason, sadly. So it appears they were copying this very same idea except Toyota had been advanced enough both technologically and had enough quality to go through with it.

I defer. This car would have definitely upped the ante, sort of like the Miata being a cult classic "roadster" rather than an actual sports car. In my opinion, all they had to do was release it in two or three vivid new colors to keep it up to speed. It certainly looks charming and whoever called the shots to cancel this really gaffed.

But I'm thinking along those lines Josh... They must have been thinking of retiring the model, or maybe it wouldn't have been safe enough to pass crash tests or something structual-related.

Am I the only one who doesnt really like it? It doesnt have the same sexy lines that we're all used to. Keep it as a hatch only. Maybe a targa top or t tops would be cool.

Waat! It looks great without a top. Looks like it's ready for the beach. The Celica on the other hand, not so much.

A targa would be ideal, but the vert top still looks nice.

Not a fan of how much fatter it would have to be with all of that equipment, but it certainly would've sold like a mofo in the states.

Now, a targa with a Del sol-eque transtop?

Slow? Yes, but neat never the less.

When I get good enough with fabrication I will source an RD1 to convert into the HCD-1.

This will happen

That convertible isn't the real deal. Someone fabbed it up.
