^^ It has no dvd/cd rom. A netbook is a small form-factor laptop with no dvd/cd rom drive, designed to save power with a lighweight processor and small screen. This saves weight and electromotive components. This saves weight and electromotive components. They use the 'net' or a USB drive to load software. It's a nebook.

The first page I found even calls it a netbook http://liliputing.com/2009/09/acer-a...10-review.html

My desktop has no DVD/CD rom... netbook? The 1410 was listed on Acers website under notebooks, not netbooks. Acer netbooks are all "One" models. This does everything a standard non-desktop replacement laptop does for less money and is much easier to travel with. The processor/ RAM can't be that slow. It came with Win 7 Premium (not Starter) and runs fine. No lag, boots in a few seconds and I haven't even upgraded to an SSD yet.

I have no lag or slowdowns. Windows 7 is just naturally slow (compared to Ubuntu). My netbook has a N450 processor in it. It's slow as heck, but it's faster then your core 2 solo. It's about 1/16th the speed of my desktop. Which i consider SLOW

Not a Core 2 Solo. Celeron Dual Core. I didn't buy the base model.

My netbook's screen is very small. It is a 10.1" display. It looks like it's pretty much the same netbook as mine, but you have a 32 bit processor instead of a 64 bit. But yours is a bit newer and supports SSE 4. http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668485.php.

On the plus side it has a very long battery life. 9.5 hours is fabulous. I think overall you got a good deal.

I would like to point out that the amount of cells in a battery is utterly useless information and only used for marketing. Unless the size of the cell is specified it does not matter. A cell means between 1.2-1.6 volts of electricity. What sustains battery life is Amp Hours. AH is dependent on the physical size of the battery.... ie.. AA cell, C cell, D cell... The size of the cell is what gives you longer or shorter life. I could make a battery with 14 button cell batteries and it would last shorter then a 2-D cell battery.
