Default Autozone Rewards Points - is it really a reward?

I sometimes wonder about the "Autozone Reward Points" ie - spend $20, 5 times and you get $20 on your rewards card to spend at their stores. Alot of times I think its a rip off but then sometimes I do luck out on it. Sometimes I think they jack up their prices so the "rewards" kinda evens out and they get you to spend more lol.

What do you Autozone customers think?

well it is and isn't a reward.. yeah, if you spend 20+ each time, you will get the 'credit' towards your 20$ off after the 5th time, but thats also where they get you..

not only do they get you coming back up to 5 times or whatever, they get you to spend 20+ each trip rather than that 6$ can of paint you went there for...

they are already making probably +20% on most of their products (which is equivelant to the 'rewards' they give you) but now they are getting you to shop their more often and buy stuff you probably don't need, just to receive a 20$ gift card.

Kohls is the WORST for their 'rewards' in my opinion. I used to love shopping there until I realized what they were doing.. Yeah you can get these 30% off coupons and then kohls cash on top of that, but usually your bill comes out to more than you would spend at target or walmart in the end. Also, knowing how freely they 'give away' the 30%, I could NEVER buy anything without having 30% off knowing they make at least 40% profit on it when i could get a similar item, cheaper at another stores 'regular price'

Kohl's effin' sucks. There's no way that crappy "Arrow" button down shirt is regularly $55. Eff that. The $30 sale price of 40% off is still more than a Ralph Lauren or Stafford shirt I buy.

Anyways... AutoZone works for me. It's very close to my house, so I just buy my oil changes there and get a free one after 5. I get only stuff I need or can use later, I don't spend $20 when I only need a can of paint, but I'll throw in a candy bar if I'm $1 short.

Autozone as a company sucks, and their local store tends to be a stinker as well. Do everyone a favor and go elsewhere, unless you need the lifetime warranty (alternator, brake pads, etc.) Without knowing anything about their rewards system I can say generally that rewards systems are there for YOU to lose money, not the store.

Got any reason to say they suck as a company?

The rewards system is just scanning your card. If you spend $20 on five different transactions, they send you a $20 coupon for your next purchase.

Sinister lately?

. . . thirty seconds later

and specifically (first hit after adding "as a company")

Everybody else has always been hit-or-miss for me, but AutoZone, in addition to rubbing me the wrong way as a company, has also historically stunk the worst of any of my local chain auto parts stores, regardless of location, as far as I can remember.

eh, I use Autozone and the rewards system is great if you stick to keeping your purchases as close to 20 bucks. Hell, I've even bought multiple items needed for a tune up over the course of a week to get all the parts by the weekend, and get my last part free! Honestly, they are very competitively priced, AND they will price match and I believe beat competitors pricing by 5%.

I cant stand them, They atleast here, they dont have a wide variety of parts on tap, when i order somethings it takes weeks to get here, i purchased my gator belt through them, they said three days, went back a week later, item was cancelled on day 4, yet they didnt tell me, just kinda took my cash and hoped i would not come back i suppose, then while i was there, they reordered it, yet with the same out come, I returned, I asked for there Manager, we exchanged kind words, then i took it upon myself to make my own rant about there shitty service via craigslist! Now i am telling yall!

I will never return to my local Autozone!
