I had a dynomax thrush glasspack on my car. I shot nitrous and it burned it up. The paint discolored on the outside and the glasspack started rattling.
Now I'm running a small resonator. It sounds like crap. My car sounds like a turbocharged lawnmower. I would much rather have a glasspack then a resonator for the extra sound deadening because of the difference in tone. So I put a Cherry Bomb on order. Hopefully this $50 glasspack will work better then the $20 thrush. Just a word to those considering a glasspack.. |
Sorry to hear that. Any idea why this would happen? I can only imagine what nitrous does to the cat(s) if it does this to a glasspack..

I know shooting N02 will raise your EGT but enough to kill a glass pack? are you sure your burning up all that fuel and N02 before it hits the exhaust manifold? a glasspack is only piping with fiberglass surrounding it pretty much, so i dont know how you kill that without blowing your sensors and catalytic converter.
just throwing thoughts out there to what might have happend. iv never used any kind of N02 system and might be using it in the future so im a bit worried because i have the same glasspack. Only mine is Summit brand. |
i call it a cheap POS glasspack, not really the fact of nitrous. people run glasspacks on turbo cars, and dont ruin the glasspack in a couple weeks.. turbos run really hot, probably hotter than nitrous..
so i wouldn't cheap out and get junk next time and you wont have this problem. |
Of course it's the nitrous right? Not a shitty exhaust or crappy driving habits?
A thank ya. |

A thank ya.</div> I think it's a combination of the nitrous and the crappy dynomax thrush glasspack. The Dynomax Thrush was recommended by someone on this site. I thought someone who might find themselves in my shoes would appreciate the heads up. I'm sure the Dynomax Thrush is a great product, but it cant take heat. You can see the paint on the outside was burned in certain hot-spots and not evenly at all. It's like the material inside either cought fire, or melted away in those locations. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff111/D...-29-08_1416.jpg That picture was taken strateigically, but you can see the right side closest to the camera is brown as well as the top side on the farthest point. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff111/D...-19-08_1707.jpg This is how it was when it was first on the car before any nitrous was shot. |
lol what happened to the calculations of 5k RPM?? guess that didnt save your glasspack huh?? lmao.gif

Oh, ha ha....
Actually, now that I've heard my car with a resonator on it, and a glasspack on it, the glasspack was a much better idea. I'm going to get a much better quality name brand glasspack this time and screw the resonator. I'd much rather have the low pitched sound from a glasspack then the high pitched sound from a resonator. It seriously sounds like a super-turbo-lawnmower with this exhaust setup on it. |
