Nitrous

ive finally decided what im going with. I wanted a turbo badly.... but cant seem to find one in my budget range... so ive decided to get a nitrous kit at my local racing store for around $600.00 w/ install.

Has anyone ever had any problems with engine blow outs?

faithofadragon 03-07-2005 08:45 AM

um yeah

that was a really broad question

we need more info of what you plan on running

MasterJ51503 03-07-2005 08:49 AM

I dont know, what are some good kits that wont blow out your engine... (because im not sure of the power of the kit im buying)

although you want to have a quality brand its more of the size of the shot and the route of introducing the Nitrous that factors into whether your engine will blow. a wet shot is safer than a dry shot because it adds fuel. 50 is said to be the highest you would want to go stock w. dry , and with wet you can go higher to about ~100 shot. The higher the shot the more dangerous it becomes. if you are going to do nitrous you should know the ins and outs, even if your not doing the install. here is a very recent thread that might help out little more

since you did want a brand i guess NOS is supposed to suck and NX (nitrous express) is recomended here usually

hope this helps mang

i got nx

on a stock motor you should run no more than a 50 shot unless you upgrade the fuel

also if you plan on running more than a 75 look into a direct port kit

Will a DPI kit work with a non turbo application? Say a 75 shot with upgraded fuel injectors on stock internals...

OdessitPashka 03-07-2005 02:01 PM

yes, and no need to upgrade the injectors.

JalemX 03-07-2005 02:18 PM

ok, then let me refraise the question...

what is the highest shot you could use with a DPI kit with all stock internals and stock fuel injectors? And would you guys recommend the NX kit? Simplicity of install of a DPI kit (any harder than the nozzle kit?)

thanks!

faithofadragon 03-07-2005 02:32 PM

dpi will be harder to install cuz you have to drill into your intake manifold
on stock internals i personally would not run higher than 80

i read some were on here that you want to go with stage 1 colder spark plugs if you go with a 50 shot and stage 2 colder if a 100 shot.

about the fuel unpgrade. i thought it would be better to upgrade the pump and injectors?
