Is it a good idea to increase the cam overlap with nitrous oxide, or will I be running more of a risk of backfiring? I hate nitrous backfires and my engine will backfire nitrous at low RPM allready because of the unburned fuel in the cylindar durring the exhaust stroke burning into the intake stroke. I hear that the 1.8cam increases overlap and I'm wondering if this is a good idea or if it has been tried?

I'd like to know too, since this will be my next step after the exhaust.

From what i've read, no, because it has longer overlap (resulting in exhaust reversal with turbo, or charge loss through exhaust on supercharger).

So If I have s/c plans for the future (say 1 year) there is no point of installing the 1.8l cam?

I'm not sure it makes such a big difference, and it's cheap and easy to install so why not enjoy it for 1 year? smile.gif

1.8 intake cam = 16 degree overlap
2.0 intake cam = 18 degree overlap

with stock exhaust cam.

mauricio - so your saying it's fine? maybe better with less overlap?

I just picked one up but I can only assume that it's better with my limited understanding of engine timing.

I don't know if overlap is good or bad for nitro. I just know the data.
