Hi, my name is Alex... everyone calls me "stee". I'm from Ephrata, PA which is about an hour west of philly.
I drive a 1998 Chevrolet Astro AWD and own a rd2 2001 Hyundai Tiburon which currently does not run. She needs a new bottom end or replacement motor.
I found these forums through newtiburon who from there directed me to this site.
My Tib has 2 1/2'' cat back, rest is stock.

your best bet is to find a beta II (non-cvvt) engine from a newer tiburon/elantra. you will most likely find one with very low miles for around 300$
or you can find a beta I engine (one thats in your car) with low-medium miles for around 200-300$.
would be much easier and smarter to replace the whole engine rather than just the bottom end. probably cheaper also.
welcome to the site.
if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

thanks guys....yeah shes been a real pain in the neck. I origionally thought the problem was electrical so I spent a week tryin to diagnose it and couldnt figure it out. the car would just crank and crank. Took it to the shop and they told me it wont start cuz there simply isnt any compression. The girl who had it before me neglected to regularly change the oil and fix a simple freeze plug leak so the car over heated a bunch of times and eventually the motor took a giant shit. The rest of the car is in awesome condition along with the driveline.
