Hi, my name is DanaLynn.

I'm from Glen Burnie, MD.

I drive a 2001 Tiburon.

I found these forums through searching internet.

I've done the following mods to my car.

It's just stock.

It's good to meet you all and I hope to learn from you!

For the longest time I was into 3rd Generation Camaros/Firebirds but as the customer reviews say, Tiburons are really fun to drive. This is the first one I have owned and basically got it because it was a 4 cylinder and had a nice sporty look to it. Plus it was in my price range, hehe. One question though, what does the RD stand for and doesn't that only stand for 1996-2002? What are the other initials I've ran across mean for the different generations of Tiburons. Far as I know they didnt make them in 2002 but have made them from 2003- 2008? I'm here to learn, have a great one all and nice to meet ya! Also it would be kewl to meet other people in my area (Glen Burnie, MD) to share experiences about their Tiburons. THANX AND HAVE A GREAT DAY! cool.gif

Welcome to RDTiburon.com.

RD is the code Hyundai used for that automotive platform. RC, J2, and RD were used for Elantras, RD, GK, for Tiburons, etc. I never heard of it meaning anything in particular.

Welcome to the site. We have plenty to offer, so look around and see what you can find. Take time to look at the Car of the Month section to get ideas for design and performance.

RD is the chassis code for the Tiburon. We commonly refer to 1996-1999 as the RD1 and 2000-2001 as the RD2.
There was no production in 2002.
2003 started the GK.

There are several ideas for the "RD" reference. Most believe it stands for Rider's Delight. Most of these can be answered in our New Member FAQ http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?showtopic=4980
