Vehicle: 2001 Hyundai Accent 1.6L DOHC
Hi, My name is Nick, i have a 2001 Hyundai Accent with a 1.6L DOHC, I am 19, turning 20 on september 23. I have been in the tuning scene since i was 14 first owning a 1989 Mustang and Drag racing it. I am planning to do a turbo for the 1.6L but i heard of a BETA engine, haven't done any performance on a Accent. I hope to learn alot from all the tech info here. I am trying to make my Accent into a time attack killer, so if anyone has any tips they would want to give me, go right on ahead i want to learn as much as i can from this car.
Hi Nick, check out this thread. Its an older accent but it will teach you some things.

I want to Turbo my Accent but i have not seen all the info on the parts i need, Like which is the best turbo, and money is not a hassle, I am building for time attack and Daily driving. I want quality parts and i know that they are the more expensive parts, and where do you all get the suspension parts. Also, i heard you can swap an Evo motor into it with the whole EVO drivetrain to make it a AWD. But, That is a little much for me right now. I have no problems Fabbing parts as i have done it enough with the Jeep Cherokee Offroad Truck i own, so Fab and welding are no problem for me, just the knowledge of the parts needed for a Turbo on a 1.6L. Also, is it better for me to Run a FMIC or a TMIC with a Scoop going directly to it with cooling spray, and i always have cooler temperatures cause i live in Canada, and its not always warm here. mostly Damn cold.

Welcome to the board!
A FMIC is usually superior to a top mount, although either will work. There is very little room to do a decent sized top mount on an Accent.
You're going to want to Beta II 2.0l swap the car if you're serious. The main reason the 1.6l is a no-go is that there are few parts available to build it for turbo and they're more expensive than on the Beta. 300+hp on a turbo beta car is very feasible, with your budget determining the maximum hp number.
Evo 4G63t swaps are best left to the first generation Hyundais (they bolt in to a few models basically). It can be done to your car but by the time you did it you would have pretty much been able to build a Beta to make the same power and there is almost no fabbing to a Beta swap. AWD is nice but like you said that's a big undertaking, the rear suspension would pretty much have to be adapted from another car.
You will want to choose whether you're going to go with a set of coilovers or with Koni yellow adjustable inserts and springs. Some coilovers have adjustable strut tops that let you set the camber easily, otherwise in a serious race car you'll be fabricating a top plate with slotted holes. A set of adjustable sway bars would be nice, KFX was recently listing some on their website but I don't see them on there anymore. You could email them though they might be able to get them still. If not, Seoulful Racing is listing some non-adjustable ones which would be far better than not getting any. Aside from that some strut bars front and rear should fix you up unless you're looking to further brace the chassis. There are also lower suspension braces and inner fender bracing if you wanted to do that.
Suspension 2000-2005 interchanges with your car just FYI while shopping around.

So i should just wait and do a Beta II 2.0L swap, but don't i lose all room on the passenger side where the belts are. i would like to keep it a 1.6L for now until i buy something else to drive cause that is a little too much downtime for the car, then maybe i will think about the Beta II swap.

I agree with 187...if your realy seriouse about ti do the beta, BUUUUT...with internals and such you can easily get a good amount of hp out of the 1.6. I myself have had a turbo running on my car. I dont have the money needed to tune and build the motor proporly but Ive been getting some good numbers and the car a WAY faster. Now you have a 2001 Accent so you should have more room in the fromt betweent he radiator and engine that you can do a nice turbo setup. I have an 04 and man it sucks...I have almost NO room to fit anything. I even had to remake a manifold and Im selling the first one because I couldnt fit anything in there right.
I can go into details with you later if you want PM me.
