Intro and a suspension question
I've been lurking at this site for a while, but I finally decided to register and start posting. I had an Elantra for 3 years until it got totalled last year, when I bought a 2000 Tiburon. When I first got the car, there was a loud squeeking noise coming from the right rear of the car. I had the dealer fix it, and he said it just needed a suspension lube.
Well it's been almost a year since I bought the car, and now the squeeking is coming back. It happens whenever I go over a bump or around a corner, although I can't get it to make noise if I just push up and down on the corner. It definitely seems to be coming from the right rear. Any ideas what this could be? I thought the Tiburon suspension was sealed up and didn't need to be lubed. This is a totally stock suspension. Thanks for any help.

My car isn't under warranty anymore, so if possible I'd like to fix this myself. Besides, the dealer where I live is full of idiots. When I first bought the car the CEL was on, and it took them 4 visits to figure out it was the O2 sensor.

Welcome to the site by the way.
As for the squeaking, how hard do you have to corner to get it to happen?
Where are you located?

If they said they "it just needed a suspension lube" you can probably get some lithium grease and grease the 2 rear sway bar bushings. Doesn't sound like a strut / spring to me, if you can't make reproduce it by manually bouncing the car up and down.
I have similar issues when I hit deep dips. But I have Eibach sway bars and urethane bushings,... it's not too bad, only happens when it's moderatly cold out. If it's like -50, it's fine and if it's like +20 it's fine. But around freezing,... it sqeeks everytime I go over deep dips in the road. I guess it (bushings) contract just enough when it's at a certain weather. I could fix it, but I'm too lazy,... just need the weather to warm up. smile.gif
But yeah, for you, put some lithium grease in between your bushings and sway bar, and also your bushing brackets.
Here's a pic:

I got some lithium grease and put it around the bushing. I didn't want to take it all the way off, since it looked like I'd have to bend the sway bar to put it back on, and I can't bend the sway bar and put the bolts in by myself. So I just put grease around the edges, and on the back where it hits the body. Hopefully that will fix the noise.
