Hey everyone!

My name is Ryan and I just joined the forum. I just bought my 2001 Hyundai Tiburon yesterday and I'm really excited to own this car. This place seems really cool and I hope I can learn as much as possible about the Tib and help to grow the community.

As of now my car is a stock 2001 Tiburon with 17k miles, silver with a black leather interior. I've got a bunch of questions, so if you guys could indulge my newbie-ness for a bit I would greatly appreciate all of the help from you guys.

1. What are some free or cheap mods that I could do to the Tib to free up some of that choked up power from the factory? I already read about the resonator removal and will probably get around to that this weekend.

1. What kind of whp/wtq gains can be expected with mods such as headers; TB; turbocharging; heads/cam work; etc.? And where could reviews on these products be found?

2. What kind of mods to a stock 2001 Tiburon would it take to run mid-high 13's? Without N02 btw. And without drag radials too.

3. What kind of results have people gotten out of their Tiburons from dyno tuning? I don't mean those handheld tuners or "chips" but actual time spent working with a dyno shop.

4. What are some free or cheap mods that I could do to the Tib to free up some of that choked up power from the factory? I already read about the resonator removal and will probably get around to that this weekend.

5. What are the widest tires that can fit (without rubbing) in the stock fender wells? Obviously not with the stock rims. I'm assuming 17x9 would be ok, if not pushing it?

6. Can anyone point me in the direction of soundclips of Tiburons with headers? Catbacks that don't sound 'farty'? heads/cam work?

Thanks a lot for all your help guys. I know it's a lot to ask but I've been so enthused about getting this car and I hope that we have a very active community. Thanks in advance for the responses, it means a lot.

-Ryan

For your first #1, LOL, use the search on the site and look at our DIY section. There are a few free things you can do to free up some HP.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>1. What kind of whp/wtq gains can be expected with mods such as headers; TB; turbocharging; heads/cam work; etc.? And where could reviews on these products be found?</div>

Gains depend on what you do my man. Anywhere from 1 to 2 HP to 20 to 30 HP on different things.

Reviews can be found in the different sections of the site, I suggest you use the Search link.

A turbo charger or custom Supercharger system, done RIGHT.

Uhm, on a stock car? On a modified car it would depend on what engine management you were using and what mods you had done.

See your #1 #1.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, yeah, forgot the search function. Thanks for answering what you could though. But in the meantime, any word on soundclips and the tire question? wink1.gif

Yeah I'm retarded about the whole #1 #1 thing lol. I got booted off and had to retype that whole thing...probably a good reason to keep posts shorter.

btw, this forum has more f'n smilies that I've ever seen biggthumpup.gif

Glad you like.

LOL

Brotha, if I don't answer something, it's because I don't know the answer.

Rims/Tires, dunno. But go with 16's or 15's, 17's are heavy and ride like SHIZZLE.

There are a few soundclips around, but not of headers.

You'll have to...

...

....
........

Search.

Only 17,000 miles! Nice! I've got 153,000 kms (95,000 miles) on my 2000.
