Hey, hows it goin all? My name is Travis and i'm from Pittsburgh, PA...

I own a 2000 Tiburon, White, 5 speed...

mostly stock as of right now, but I came to the site for some help with my mods and for some ideas...

currently i have installed a strut bar and CAI (which i'm having some trouble with oddly enough)
also, the previous owner had white neons installed along with 12" kickers and an amp

I found out about this site from a few guys on newtiburon.com that suggested i look here for good mods and help with my CAI

Welcome to the site, thanks for the intro.

What's the problem with your CAI?

Welcome! Tell us more about your problem!

Do you have any pics? Is your stereo a simple install with some boxes in the back, or a fancy custom job?

I have a few pics, nothing major or fancy, but i'll try to post some soon...

as for the speakers, its a standard black box, but we hit it up with some neon lights in the back and the amp has a nice lighting effect with it as well...the rear speakers in the back of the car also have blue LED's inside that pulse to the music...

Here is the problem with the intake...

I recently installed a CAI on my 2000 Tiburon, 5 speed...everything fit piece-wise on the car and all hoses were clamped on snug...it appeared to me that everything was in place and it drove home fine...

about a day after install i had the following problems...

1. very low idle as if my car was going to stall out (it did stall out once at a stop light)

2. shifting became very jerky and the throttle response seemed slow

3. to get into 1st gear i had to get my RPM's to about 2500 to avoid stalling (same thing with putting her in reverse)

I removed the CAI and put the factory intake on and everything ran fine again
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After checking some other forum posts I saw a few people having problems with the MAF and IAT...the kid the helped me install the CAI the first time may have put the MAF in the wrong way and i didnt catch it the first time...i reinstalled the CAI and made sure the MAF was in the correct way...i guess we'll see what happens tho...any other ideas that might have caused the above to happen would be awesome though...

thanks

so, is the CAI installed in your car right now or not? if yes, are you still having problems?

welcome to the site, btw

Ehh, I've like almost never heard of anyone having a problem with their IAT.

Other than not reinstalling it.

Morons.
