Does this stuff actually do anything?? I could see maybe on a long 100+ ft run, but in a car?

If you are competing in SQL competitions with the engine off, in an EMI-noisy environment, expensive cables might help the teensiest little bit. If you are not, then radio shack $2 specials are fine as long as they don't literally fall apart.
