Was looking at things in the Summit store and saw only "Procar by Scat" seats. They had some okay looking stuff, namely the 80-1780-## "drifter" and "80-1790-## "pro sport" all under $200 for full back, fixed position seats. This to me seemed really under priced being that a single Sparco set me back north of $700 back in the day. What's a bit scary is that I can't find many reviews on them aside from a few of the camaro and mustang sites touting ride comfort. Are these even worth a damn? Or are these the paper thin fiberglass, shatter upon impact, garbage of nightmares? Anyone with any experience with these at all?



Only reason I'd even humor these is because at $200 I can justify taking them apart to mod the cushioning and fabric.

 

Gotta be real careful with cheap race seats. Either the fabric will wear out easily or the metal frames will bend. Thats where safety issues come into play. Whether your car is built for the track or just a daily driver or a combo of both...you want something strong & sturdy enough to handle an impact if anything bad happens.

 

I've seen countless accidents where cheap reclining seats have just folded up on a people, or worse yet a cheap plastic fixed-back literally snap in a collision. Kind of want to avoid that

It just seemed odd that this was the only brand Summit had in store. I cant find any info, and no one has chimed in either way, seems a bit scarey to me.

Found the answer after scouring forums. Apparently they're so flimsy the seat bottoms are known to buckle under even spirited daily driving. Apparently they even suck for use as gaming chairs, and like Vis said, the cloth wears out really quickly. Still picking one up for use as a Forza/GT rig despite that.
